Relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux - Holy Hour and Prayer Vigil

To welcome the relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux to the Archdiocese, the Archbishop will lead a Holy Hour on Saturday 7th September at 7.30pm, including prayers, reflections and music in honour of the beloved saint. After the Holy Hour, the Carmelite nuns of Dysart will keep watch over the relics and lead the praying of the Rosary at each hour until midnight. During this time, pilgrims can venerate the relics, leave their own prayer intentions and celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

  • After 9am Mass on Sunday 8th September

  • After 10.30am Mass on Sunday 8th September

  • After Midday Mass on Sunday 8th September

  • During public veneration of relics on Sunday 8th September, 1.30pm - 5.30pm

  • Before 7.30pm Mass on Sunday 8th September

Passion of the Lord with the Archbishop

On the afternoon of Good Friday, His Grace Archbishop Leo Cushley will celebrate the Passion of the Lord in St Mary's Cathedral.

The liturgy will consist of the Liturgy of the Word with the Solemn Intercessions for the world, Veneration of the Cross and Distribution of Holy Communion.

All are warmly invited to join this special commemoration of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Young Adults' Group

Young Adults Group – Blessed Giuseppe Puglisi - 7.30pm

The Young Adults’ Group meets in the Cathedral Café this Tuesday at 7.30pm, after Stations of the Cross. This week we welcome back to the Cathedral Fr Nick Welsh, who will speak to us about Blessed Giuseppe Puglisi, a priest from Sicily who was murdered in 1993 after standing up to the Mafia.

Young Adults Group

The Young Adults’ Group meets as usual this Tuesday at 7pm in the Cathedral Café. This week we are delighted to welcome the journalist Mary McGinty, who will talk about St Josemaria Escriva, the Spanish priest and founder of Opus Dei. His message was that everyone, regardless of their state of life, is called to seek holiness through the fulfilment of the ordinary duties of everyday life.

Cathedral Fatima Group

The Fatima Group will join the Rosary Group on the 13th of each month at 12 noon in the Lady Aisle, until November, to pray to Rosary before the statue of Our Lady of Fatima as recommended by Pope Francis.

This act, during the centenary year of the apparitions at Fatima, can gain for participants a plenary indulgence, with the usual conditions of receiving Communion, making a confession and praying for the Pope’s intentions.
