Our Schola Cantorum brings together 8 voices to sing sacred music to the highest standards. The ensemble sings the full breadth of sacred art music, from plainchant and Renaissance polyphony, to newly composed works. The Schola Cantorum sings primarily at the 12pm Sunday Mass and is directed by Michael Ferguson, Director of Music. The ensemble aims to represent excellence in Catholic music-making both at St Mary’s Cathedral, in the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh, and in the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland more generally.
Our mixed-ability Cathedral Choir sings primarily at the 9am Sunday Mass, leading the congregation in worship, and singing a wide range of liturgical music. Membership is open to all members of the parish, regardless of their musical experience or music reading abilities. Rehearsals take place weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm. New members are always welcome, so please contact Michael Ferguson, Director of Music, for more information: DirectorOfMusic@stmaryscathedral.co.uk
