Please join Archbishop Cushley for the celebration of the greatest and most noble of all solemnities. During the Easter Vigil, the Church celebrates the Resurrection of the Lord, praises the goodness of the Lord throughout the history of mankind and receives new members into full communion of the Church and through the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation.
On the afternoon of Good Friday, His Grace Archbishop Leo Cushley will celebrate the Passion of the Lord in St Mary's Cathedral.
The liturgy will consist of the Liturgy of the Word with the Solemn Intercessions for the world, Veneration of the Cross and Distribution of Holy Communion.
All are warmly invited to join this special commemoration of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
First Saturday devotions to Our Lady of Fatima will take place in the Cathedral on Saturday 6th April at 9.30am. The devotions will be followed by Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Confessions.
All are welcome!
The Assumption is, as you know, our Patronal Feast here at the Cathedral. We will celebrate the feast as usual with a Pontifical Mass (i.e. with the Archbishop) at 12.45pm, but this year we will also celebrate with a short organ Recital by our new Organist Simon Leach after the 7pm evening Mass. The Recital will be entitled “In Praise of Mary” and will feature music dedicated to Our Lady over the centuries. It will be followed by a Champagne Reception (sic!) in the Café.
The lovely Annual May Procession, organised by the Missionaries of Charity, will take place next Saturday, 26th May. It will begin at the Convent at 18 Hopetoun Crescent at 2:30pm and will process to the Cathedral. This is a beautiful and traditional devotion. Why not join in next Saturday?
