Parish Outing - Scone Palace

As part of our on-going and exciting social events program, the Parish Social Committee have organized a Parish Outing on May 11, 2019. This is the first time in ages that we have organized something like this and will be a wonderful occasion. This outing will be to Scone Palace in Perth. We will set off after 10am Mass (i.e. at 10.30) and travel by coach to the Scone. Once there, we will have a tour of the Palace and lunch, followed by time to explore the grounds, shops and tea room, before returning around 5pm. Tickets, which include the coach, entrance to the Palace and lunch (plus superb clerical company - Ed) are incredibly cheaply priced at £20 for adults and (only) £5 for children. Our numbers are limited, so tickets will be on sale on a first come first served basis at all Masses next weekend. Buy early to avoid disappointment!

Stella Maris Mass

‘Stella Maris’ is the name by which many seafarers also know the Apostleship of the Sea. This is because ‘Stella Maris, Star of the Sea’, is an ancient title for Mary, the Mother of God, traditionally used by seafarers and others associated with the sea. Just as seafarers have traditionally depended on the stars for navigation, so they trust in the protection and guidance of Our Lady.

Apostleship of the Sea commemorates the feast of Our Lady Star of the Sea with special Masses for seafarers in the month of September and October. Bishop Stephen Robson, the Bishop of Dunkeld and patron of the Apostleship of the Sea, will celebrate this feast in the Cathedral at 7pm on Monday 24th of September. Mass will be followed by a reception in the Cathedral Cafe.

Organ Recital for the Feast of the Assumption

The Assumption is, as you know, our Patronal Feast here at the Cathedral. We will celebrate the feast as usual with a Pontifical Mass (i.e. with the Archbishop) at 12.45pm, but this year we will also celebrate with a short organ Recital by our new Organist Simon Leach after the 7pm evening Mass. The Recital will be entitled “In Praise of Mary” and will feature music dedicated to Our Lady over the centuries. It will be followed by a Champagne Reception (sic!) in the Café.
